Arrested in Kragerø after two years on the run from Portugal – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): The police were called because of threatening behavior from a man who visited a house in Kragerø Sunday afternoon.

The man was arrested, and the job of finding the correct identity, police found quickly out he has been internationally wanted in two years.

– All indications suggest that the arrested person is a man from Romania in their 40s, who have been clamoring long by police in Portugal via Interpol, says operations manager Vidar Aaltvedt in Telemark Police Dagbladet.

The man has been in Kragerø a while, but Norwegian police have no record of his continuous movements since he was internationally two years ago.


– He has operated at least two identities, respectively 44 and 48 years, says Aaltvedt.

– Why he was wanted by police in Portugal?

– So far we have received ascertained from the Police Immigration Unit, applies a deportation order because he was denied residence in Portugal. Then he would under current practice been escorted back to their country of Romania, but he has run away, says operations manager of Telemark Police.
