Five Schengen countries ask about the continued border control – Romsdals Budstikke

the minister of justice Anders Anundsen (the progress party), Sweden’s interior minister Anders Ygeman, the Danish immigrasjonsminister Inger Støjberg, as well as the German and austrian interior ministers Thomas de Maizière and Wolfgang Sobotka has signed on to the letter.

These five countries have introduced temporary border control, with the permission from the EUROPEAN commission. This permit expires 12. november.

Anundsen met in the previous week, their counterparts from the other four countries to discuss a push to get extend the control, but by then it was uncertain whether all five would join the inquiry.

In the letter, the weaknesses of the Greek border control, overcrowded mottakssentre in Greece and the large number of refugees and migrants stuck along the Balkan route, to demonstrate the need for border control. In addition, the countries concerned flyktningstrømmen to the Italian island of Lampedusa.

The five ministers also refers to the terrorist attacks in Paris in november of last year and in Brussels in march and two attacks that refugees conducted in Germany in the summer. (©NTB)
