Rjukan and Notodden World Heritage – P4 Radio Hele Norway ASA


 
             
 

Rjukan and Notodden industrial history came today into the World Heritage Site.

– This is a great day for Telemark, exclaimed County Council, Terje Riis-Johnsen, then P4 called him after the news was announced.

Has changed Telemark

– We have worked long and it comes to placing Telemark on the world map, he adds.

– It has happened at Rjukan and Notodden is so unique and has changed the society totally and it has also changed Telemark through products that have come out of it.

According to NTB treated UNESCO application from Telemark county this morning, and it should be Norwegian Hydro plant for fertilizer production at Notodden and Rjukan which is basically that they sought.

Will affect tourism
– This means a new era for Telemark, simply, says one satisfied Riis-Johansen.
It involves neither money nor goods to be entered on the World Heritage List, but it could affect tourism and make tourism gets one lift.
– I have no doubt that more people are now going to open your eyes to the wonderful industrial history Notodden and Rjukan have.

Champagne on the list

Champagnes historic vineyards and wine cellars was incorporated into the UNESCO list yesterday.

The area where the world’s most famous sparkling wines are produced and stored and district Burgundy was crowned with the prestigious award, NTB reported.

The list includes sites that have exceptional significance for mankind and should be preserved.
