Djupedal call SV “mediocre team”: – I have been Ap several years – VG

ARENDAL (VG) Djupedal (55) does not recognize the SV he helped to build. Now he wants to help the Labour Party to win elections.

There have only been a few days since Djupedal in an interview with Agderposten revealed that he – after 38 years in the party – has announced the transition from SV to Labor.

– The break my with SV can be illustrated as a controlled divorce. We have grown apart, says former Minister and Deputy Chairman of the Socialist Left Party, Djupedal, when VG met him at the pier in Arendal.

For six years, the former innpiskeren Kristin Halvorsen been Fylkesmann in Aust-Agder . This fall he replaced against their will. Meanwhile, he has now left the party that he helped to lead to government power.

Voiced Labor since 2011

The decision to switch party was not taken overnight. Djupedal has over several years doubted his political affiliation.

– I have realized that I am a social democrat for a while ago. I voted Labour in government elections in 2013 and shared my voice between Labor and the Socialist Party in 2011, says Djupedal.

– Are you bitter at the party?

– No, I’m not bitter and carries neither grudge against anyone in the party. I’ve just added SV behind me and do not come to see me back, he said.

Yet he finds very few bright spots in SV, a party which for a long time have floundered under the threshold. The Bible and football references, sitting metaphors closely:

– They’re not out of the “Valley of Death” if they do not have a plan. If we use a football metaphor: you also need spectacular individual performances to score goals. These spectacular players have not SV, says Djupedal.

– What do you have to say about leadership?

– I do not have anything bad to say about Audun but he is the captain of a mediocre team beats Djupedal fixed.

– Driver “seminar politics”

The former education minister says he does not recognize the party he co to lead to government power.

– The power-seeking and alliance-building party I was involved in starting up, are gone.

He believes this is because the party has lost sight of where it really and that they have lost many important battles, like environmental battle, to the Green Party.

Djupedal mean party driver “seminar politics” – those not engaged in politics for results, but politics for politics sake.

It was Syriaforliket, where SV failed to go in alliance was “the straw that broke the camel’s back.” But there are also other individual cases he has been “deeply disappointed” over.

– When central OR-ing not supported veteran day, I was completely shocked. If you accept the UN to preserve world peace, you must also accept that soldiers must keep the peace, he said.

Do not run old comrades

He has trouble seeing the political stars of his old party. Meanwhile, Djupedal that he is impressed with what the current government has accomplished.

– I have great respect for Erna Solberg, she is a very good politician. Also FRP has surprised me with many competent ministers in the current government. Many have delivered very well, says Djupedal.

Is it true that some of them have done a better job than ministers in the coalition government?

– Oh, absolutely. Very many have done a much better job. When we came into government in 2005 and continued in 2009, we were not well enough prepared. It suggests that this government is, says Djupedal.

Have you read this? : It is therefore SV-crisis

He has been aware of that “the best friends one has in other parties” and the SV-camp, he today only contact with former Environment Minister Erik Solheim.

– You do not want to have a beer with the people you Looking ten hours a day, he points out.

Djupedal does not miss the political life, but thinking back on replikkutvekslingene and debates in Parliament with great pleasure.

With 16 years behind him as a member of parliament and deputy chairman, deadlines are not new, long party political career in Ap. He will still help his new party to win elections.

– I have not seen for myself that I should be a politician again in my life. But when I’ve gone into a new party, I want the help the party to win the election, he said.

No “Plan B”

Something of why a new profile political career is unthinkable, because the family: his wife put her foot down already in 2009 when Djupedal gave in Parliament. Despite his privy position as county governor on October 1, will Djupedal and family join in the southern town.

The protagonist says that he and his family thrives and is greeting with more to come over to the departing county to shake his hand during the interview.

Despite the fact that he can not actively campaigning for Labor before October 1, it is natural that he set himself at the disposal of the party, believes he said.

Djupedal will meet with the county leader of Labor to discuss their role in the party. But there are as yet no “Plan B” for job future.

– I’ve got some offers from employers and one never knows what the future holds. But right now I just know what it’s like to have free. It will be delicious, it and, he concludes.

VG has been in contact with SV and party leader Audun Lysbakken. In an sms he writes: “I choose to be more generous with Øystein than he is with us. I want to thank him for great effort of many years for SV, while we wish him good luck in his new political life in labor”.
