PST boss: – Reason for concern – Aftenposten

PST boss: – Reason for concern – Aftenposten

– I think that Aftenposten survey gives cause for concern, says the chief of the Police Security Service, Benedicte Bjørnland.

Aftenposten has revealed that large parts of central Oslo covered by false base stations that can capture, record and tapping signals from mobile phones.

– We get a report from NSM at first. Then we put ourselves down with them and determine whether there is a basis for further preventive measures or even investigation, saying Bjørnland.

– NSM investigation comes after Aftenposten findings. What does it tell you?

– It tells me that we can never rest. We must be on all the time. We have given repeated sikkerhetsbriefer to previous governments and this government about the vulnerability by talking in cell phone, says Bjørnland.

– Has warned people to be careful

She notes that one must have eavesdropping secure meeting room, encrypted phones or possibly not talk about sensitive issues in mobile phone.

– Have politicians listened to the warning?

– I hope. So, I hope that you have understood that we over the years have warned of a high and persistent intelligence threat to Norway, says Bjørnland.

PST boss says that if after that may be suspected that there are strangers States behind bugging, it will be appropriate for PST to investigate the case. If there are commercial interests, it is a matter for the ordinary police.

– Hard to catch some

Asked about PST should have been around and easy for monitoring the equipment, says Bjørlland that are hard to find so-called IMSI catchere.

She recalls that this overvåkingsutsyret is small and easily positionable.

– One that uses this, place themselves in a car outside a building with an IMSI catchere. It is very difficult to catch someone in the act was committed, says Bjørnland.
