Many of them have received text messages with serious threats.
– It is unpleasant messages. Messages adjacent to death threats. You see that you have received a message on the phone and look up. You react naturally, says leader Bertran Trane Skadsem Norges Pelsdyralslag Nationen.
Skadsem which itself is both a dairy farmer and mink breeder says that he has not received such messages this week, but that several breeders have done it.
– It is a way opponents are using to push us out. We just have to roll up our sleeves. In this half, I’ve run away, but I know of farmers who have received such messages. We urge them to immediately report to the police, says Skadsem adding that they also get nice messages.
– You always get a pat on the shoulder from anyone. It makes you bear to stand in it. It helps you to have faith in the matter, he said.
And believe he has. Skadsem told the newspaper that everyday in fur industry is not as bad as what emerged in the highly controversial documentary to animal rights activist Frank Nervik was shown on NRK Brennpunkt Tuesday night. He understands, however, that people react when they see pictures of animals that clearly are not doing well, and says he deeply deplores offense in the industry.
– It is clear people react when animals are hurting, I understand. Such pictures are not good for us, and weaken the credibility of the industry, says Skadsem.
– Moreover, I believe that everyday in the industry is not as it is portrayed. We try to avoid harm animals, but it is difficult to avoid casualties and sick animals in all kinds of animal husbandry. When considering the film, must be seen in light of that it is made by someone who has one agenda: to liquidate the industry, says Skadsem.
Another profiled fur campaigner who has received very serious threats, the Center Party politician Sandra Borch. She was threatened with death after she went out and backed fur farmers, and therefore withdrew from a debate on the topic on NRK Thursday night.
The day before Asked Borch in mink coat when she arrived Christmas table Troms Sp.
“I set the debate on NRK tonight despite death threats that I will die during transmission. Not because I do not get scared, but because I will not be threatened into silence in a hard case, “reported Borch via Instagram earlier in the day, but eventually she decided nevertheless to withdraw.
Frank Nervik filmed fur farms in the alley two years, under the guise of wanting to learn the profession. He says that he experienced an industry without respect for public demands, and that he was taught that it was enough to follow the rules “on paper.”
Agriculture and Food Sylvi Listhaug reacted sharply to NERVIK disclosures.
– This is unacceptable. The film also shows unacceptable attitudes and lack of respect for animals and regulations, said Listhaug said.
Thursday adopted a substantial majority in Parliament to ask the government to consider a ban on fur farming. Monday delivers a government-appointed committee has considered sustainable development of the industry and controlled liquidation, its report to the Minister Listhaug. (AFP)
