Dead man led to compensation for house purchases – VG

The buyer of a semi detached on Sinsen in Oslo is awarded compensation because the broker never informed that a corpse a few years earlier had been in the house for a long time.

It is the Court of Appeal that the judgment states that the real estate agent Fredrik Dyve appeared to liability negligence when he informed buyer Key Property that a man had been dead in the home for up to two years, writes Dagens Business.

Semi-detached villa on Sinsen sold 6 million, 1.1 million of inventory.

– It is generally very difficult to know how far back one should have to go in time compared to state the history of a property to a buyer, says real estate Dyve said.

He is puzzled by the appellate court’s decision and stressed that he was not the defendant in the case, which the seller’s insurance Protector Forsikring however was.

According to the judgment Dyve informed about the deceased husband of a neighbor under the first view, and this was then informed orally of the stakeholders. This information was however not included in the sales documents or contract meeting.

The insurance company was acquitted in Oslo District Court, but thus ordered to pay 100,000 kroner Key Property in the High Court. In total, the company needs with 570,000 kroner to Key Property.
