Protection Service in the police now threatening to suspend passport control for Schengen. They believe there is a risk for workers’ health.
According to NRK, the safety representative Randi Nymoen-Jahren at Gardermoen police who sent a decision on closure of border control management in Eastern Police District, unless measures to improve the situation put in place by Friday.
Travelers to and from Oslo Airport experienced hour long queues at passport control in recent months. Queues formed when people who will be in and out of countries outside the Schengen countries must present their passports manually to a border guard.
This weekend it was up to three hours long queues for travelers of passport control.
Nymoen-Jahren says that Sunday’s workload sick leave among employees.
– the thing is that we have employees who work sick because of the resources available are in accordance with the tasks they have. Employers received a warning repeatedly of protection service for several years. Now the rubber band stretched so far that we do not see it as prudent to work under that kind of relationship, says Nymoen-Jahren VG.
According to the Working Environment Act, protection supervisor right to stop dangerous work if there is an immediate danger to the life or health, and the danger can not be averted otherwise. The Labor Inspectorate will then decide whether work can continue.

– We do not aim to close the border, the goal is to ensure that workers have proper workday. It is not a political game. We are very concerned that employees work more sick than before. It is not important to me who solves it, but we have to get a solution, says Nymoen-Jahren.
She says that they have given an order to introduce rollover scheme. The scheme assumes that a passport box must be operated by two people for it to be open, and those who serve it, just to sit there an hour of time for that to be open. The second hour may be another type of service.
– It is the static position that allows the worker wears out, says safety representative.
