Hotvedt makes it clear that he will appeal the ruling. Defender Brynjar Meling says that he will appeal on procedural error to get the matter up again.

– She must have been very afraid

Judge Mette Trovik think there are a number of aggravating circumstances in the case.

– Kristin were deprived of life twelve years old. It is clear egregious that it is a child who was killed. The monstrous and frightening in murder plot becomes particularly pronounced when there is a child killed, said Trovik reasons given for the judgment.

– Kristin was assaulted before she was brought there she was killed. This sharpens the urgency of action. The attack must have made her very afraid. She died at a horrendous act. Hotvedt held pressed against the neck so hard and so long that she lost consciousness and died. In these situations, minutes long for the victim but also the perpetrator. It takes time before death occurs, sharpens the seriousness significantly, she said.

Kristin Juel Johannessen rode home by 18.30 o’clock on 5 August 1999 to take a swim in the evening along with her friend the summer evening, but never came home again.

the family ante impossible when Kristin had not met her friend as agreed by Goksjø water.

Just after passing the witness a man who went by the wayside on the same side of the road that Kristin had cycled.

– the court of Appeal considers it undoubtedly that Hotvedt right after he had passed Kristin on the road by Kurud, sat on crossmopeden, followed her and passed her. At the garage was deserted, no people. Here he waited for her and assaulted her, said Trovik.

The referee browsing court grounds that Hotvedt then transported Kristin inward in the dense spruce forest, on a narrow path from the garage. Then he killed her, according to court.

– Hotvedt continued to keep pressure on Kristin’s neck even a few minutes after she had lost consciousness. It takes time before death occurs, sharpens the urgency of action considerably. It has increased the pain and fear of the victim and the perpetrator have at this proved that he stuck to his killing intent, says Trovik.

The referee shows that the coroner has found Hotvedt DNA at Christina’s nails and think it shows that Kristin vainly tried to defend against the killer.

When Kristin was found murdered, was swimming suit that she wore under your shirt and pirate pants, cut just above the crotch.

– the assault of Kristin’s adult motivated. But there is no proof of that Hotvedt were committing a sexual assault, we therefore assume that it did not happen, says Trovik.
