NAV’s figures for August 2016 is not cheerful reading for workers in the oil and gas in Rogaland. At the end of August, according to new figures that all 11,748 people are without work in the county. This is 2457 more than the same time last year.

Sum of unemployed and job seekers on measures (gross unemployment) is now at 99,000 people, 5,200 more than a year ago. This corresponds to 3.6 percent of the workforce, compared with 3.4 percent in August last year.
Significant regional differences
The unemployment rate is now lower than in August last year for fourteen counties, while five counties have higher unemployment. Nord-Trøndelag and Sogn og Fjordane counties that experienced the greatest decline in unemployment, with respective decreases of 22 and 19 percent. Rogaland and Hordaland has experienced the largest increase in unemployment.
Unemployment is highest in Rogaland with 4.5 percent and in Aust-Agder by 3.9 percent. Sogn og Fjordane and Oppland have the lowest unemployment rate with 1.6 percent and 1.9 percent.
