Coldest July since 1996 – Aftenposten

July weather this year was marked by night frost in Hordaland and the coldest water temperatures in 18 years along the southern coast. Meanwhile we got some real nice summer days. A typical Norwegian summer, in other words?

– The reason that many are unhappy for years, enough that we had a wonderfully warm July last year. Compared with it, year in July has been very cool, explains climatologist Jostein Mamen.

Normal temperature in July is cool and it will not be deviation large.

Although there has been no tropical nights or heat records have several locations in Norway had nice days in between. The highest temperature was measured on July 2 in Meråker, where the thermometer showed 31.4 degrees plus, according Yr.no.

The coldest temperature was in Finnmark got the coolest weather since 1989, 3 degrees more than normal average. On the positive side, there has been 25 percent less rainfall than usual in several places in Finnmark.

In Oslo we got about as much rain as normal. Telemark and Østfold tops rainfall statistics, largely because of a couple OBS forecast in recent weeks.

In Troms and Finnmark, there has been considerably less precipitation than normal.
