The captain is accused of having been affected by alcohol in service, for having violated the abstinence requirement in eight hours and to have known that the crew members were drunk.
– He believes that he has gotten a little too little time to decide whether he confesses all the points after the indictment was extended on Friday. He does not agree with all points of the indictment and thus will he take time to think, says defender Jørund Lægland NRK.
The captain will therefore no judgment today, but He agrees to sit in custody until the trial starts on Thursday September 17th.

Sentenced to six months in prison

Earlier today, helmsman measured with the highest thousandth been sentenced to six months in jail.
The first officer told the court that he stopped drinking 1:49 the night before he was to fly Norwegian tourists to Crete. The plane would go from Oslo airport at 5:45. The crew members, according to his having shared two bottles of whiskey, but only drinking beer after 20:00 at night.
– At one time we lost control over how much we drank. Morning airplanes can be tricky, I thought I was just tired, not full. It is very good that the police stopped us, said the first officer in court.
The prosecutor asked for seven months in prison, while defending Jørund Lægland wanted three to four months for the mate.
Serious charges
The first was the four charged with having been affected by alcohol in service. Before the weekend was the indictment expanded to include violations of abstinence requirement. The captain was also charged with having known that the crew members were drunk.
The captain acknowledges having been influenced in service but not having broken eight hours rule and provisional nor the extra responsibility he has as pilot.
Following the episode has KrF requested that all aircraft should be equipped with an alcolock so that no similar incidents happening in the future.
