Now Monster rain on the way to Eastern Norway – NRK

Urban areas in eastern can get surface water from rainfall that is expected the next day.

It is expected up to 45 millimeters of precipitation.

Most rainfall is expected in Telemark, Buskerud, Vestfold, Agder and Oppland. The most of the precipitation comes at midnight and lasts a few hours into the night.

– Areas where there is high rainfall locally and which are paved, can get stormwater drain if not cleaned. This can affect basements and under floors if you are unlucky, said duty meteorologist Øyvind Johnsen at the Norwegian Meteorological Institute.

NVE alerts about the danger of smaller local landslides in Telemark, Oppland, Vestfold and Buskerud Tuesday.

– We encourage people to clean culverts, gutters or downspouts so that water can not create new waterways, says Ingeborg Kleivane Krøgli, duty hydrologist on flood alert in Norway Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) said.

The rain is expected to decline as of Wednesday morning.

There are only six days ago the last powerful storm swept over southern and eastern Norway.

– It’s warm, moist air coming from the south, who hit a front zone with cold air, explains meteorologist.
