Norwegian women on top in Europe in involuntary part – Aftenposten

Fafo researcher: In Norway, it seems that equality for some women not to be working, but not to have to work a lot.

Norway comes out well in terms of labor force participation among women, but of the 70,000 people who work part time involuntarily in Norway is 73 percent women.

Only France, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Austria have a higher percentage of women who are so-called underemployed, according to figures from Eurostat, the EU statistical office.

Researcher Leif Moland by FAFO said Nationen that the proportion of underemployed in Norway however is low.

– The proportion of part-time employed women are about three times as high as that of men. Then it is hardly surprising Part underemployed also is higher among women than among men. It becomes a question of what equality is. In Norway, it seems that equality for some women not to be working, but not to have to work a lot, he says the newspaper.

Luxemburg had in 2014 the highest proportion of women working part time involuntarily by 77 percent, while Romania had the lowest, with 34 percent. Norway is among the top five, with 73 percent of women working part time involuntarily.
