Police change penguin indictment – TV 2

This says Skovly day after two penguins were found in Atlanterhavsparken in Ålesund. It was first thought that the Russians had stolen penguins.

This is punishable by fines or imprisonment for up to three months.

Surveillance Videos Atlanterhavsparken on Thursday 14 May, seven people who were inside the area. Three of them have had status as a suspect, while four were indicted.

– Two women and two men were provisionally charged under the Animal Welfare Act § 14 – putting animals in a helpless condition. The four have maintained that they have not taken anything, but acknowledge that they have been inside the fence of the park, says Skovly.

Can not prove guilt the penguin death

Skovly would not speculate whether the Russians still have guilt in the Penguins death.

– The penguins were last checked on 8 May, which is when a week before school leavers taking into, he said.

– Is there reason believing that the Russians went into the area stressed animals so the kids were trampled to death?

– Between May 8 and yesterday when they were found we have no evidence for what has happened. Then we shall not speculate.

Took out the indictment without checking cage

Animals were yesterday found trampled to death, and it is believed that it’s penguins themselves who have killed them in panic.

Skovly will not admit that the indictment was premature.

– It is not unusual that we change the charges during of investigation.

– But why did you take out charges of theft when the penguins were there?

– We took out the indictment on the basis of review of Atlanterhavsparken. They checked and said it lacked an egg and three penguins. There was no reason to doubt the information.

– But they were the mistakes? At least two of the penguins were in the cage?

– That we did not know then.

– Why not check you cages even then?

– This is animals in hekketid, and should not be disturbed. When they see that people take themselves and animals awaken, it was assumed that they were stolen.
