Follow AUF leader’s speech at Utøya direct 10am – Aftenposten

On the football field at the main house played the football. Campers on the sidelines cheering when one of the youths put the ball in the net.

The clouds hang heavily over the island. At the tent camp is also pressure area. Morning Tired young peeking out of their tents when both national and international press people trample over teltsnoewr in the damp grass.

– Good morning, you. Now you have to get out of the tents! Mani opens summer camp clock 10. A girl in AUF sweater speaks in megaphone over campground.

Many of them are already up. Some are wet hair and trotted in bathing shorts and slippers to numerous changing before AUF leader takes the microphone. This will all get along.

– In five minutes, you MUST be in the ground. Then open Mani summer camp.

It’s the girl with megaphone again. Slightly higher this time.

– Lines we grab a sweater?

It’s a boy with a girl on his back asking. Yes, responding girl with megaphone.



Standing ovation

The youth hurries over campground and down to the ground. They tired finest crabs out of their tents. Yawning. Smiler. Gets up.

Also it is the first summer camp at Utøya after 2011 started.

AUF leader takes the stage to a standing ovation.

– Dear AUF- ere. You’ve never looked better, says the head before he wants his party colleagues welcome to Utøya.

– For two years we have been on Gulsrud, our cabin. It’s good to be home again on Utøya.

That’s so true, it is a wise AUF-member said. AUF’s headquarters are not on Youngstorget, it is here. It is this that is our home, says the head.

– We’ll save the world

– Dear AUF’ere. We are here because we will save the world, says AUF-general of the camp participants.

– We are not dessert generation, says Husseieni pointing out that today’s young generation are the ones who will have to take the tough roofs of battle against including climate change.

The theme of this summer camp is international solidarity, says the leader. Husseini yesterday in his speech into large, heavy international issues: poverty and equality. He advocates a “feminist foreign policy”, and to promote equality in all parts of the world.

– Gender equality must be part of all our international policies, he said.

He goes on to talk about atomic bombs against Hiroshima and Nagasaki 70 years ago, and believes the current government keeps the wrong course in the fight against nuclear weapons.

– We demand a ban on nuclear weapons now, he notes.

More than 1,000 participants

More than 1,000 participants have registered before the first AUF summer camp on Utøya since 2011. Some come for the first time, while others return to the island where they experienced his life greatest tragedy.

Last night opened Mani Husseini what has been called “New Utøya.” Already first evening there was large queue of participants for this year’s summer camp, and today is more to flow to.

– This will always be a place which is characterized by the terrorist attack in 2011, but taking place in use is about not letting the darkness win. We have built Utøya up again piece by piece, and therefore it is a big step to have summer camp on Utøya again, says AUF leader Mani Hussaini said.
