Ward reviewed for solicitation to hit children – Aftenposten

Ward reviewed for solicitation to hit children – Aftenposten

– If a kid gets to experience slight pain when he is disobedient and this happens time and time again, we think the kid will stop doing what is wrong says 23 years old Asbjorn Berland who heads the source parish Jæren to Our Country.

In church creed states that parents should raise their children in love and thus praise them for the good and rebuke them when they are disobedient. It states further that physical fornication is biblical, but it certainly must be exercised controlled – and in love.

– Clearly a violation of the Children Act

– This is very serious. All violence against children in Norway is illegal. This is clearly a violation of the Children Act Section 30 which states that all violence against children is punishable, says ombudsman Anne Lindboe to Our Country.

Ward second conductor, 26 years old Martin Hjellvik says physical discipline in love may be light strokes on the buttocks. He says parents by talking to the kids and give them a hug will get kids to understand that they are loved.

– The consequences can be fatal if children resent discipline

“The consequences could be fatal if parents do not reprove and discipline their children, or children resent discipline, “it says in the long creed.

According to Norwegian law is not allowed to hit children, nor to give them a light spank. Hjellvik believes the law is ambiguous. It do not mean Anne Lindboe. She immediately contacted Rogaland police when she was made aware of the church’s view on violence against children.

– Police say they will look seriously at the issue and come to contact the church. I also hope that the police engage in dialogue with the child welfare, says Lindboe. (NTB)
