the four unions LO, Unio, YS and Academics come today with a joint statement on pension breakup: negotiations between unions and the Labour and social Affairs has collapsed.

the cause of the collapse was that the minister Anniken Hauglie would not negotiate in the usual way with the unions about an altered occupational public sector. This means that employees are not given an opportunity to decide on a new solution for the future pension through such as a referendum.

The employee organizations regret that Minister Hauglie- has refused to follow the social mainstream rules for how things agreed, namely through wage settlements. We were largely agreed on the need to look into public service. We were also largely agreed on key principles for a new scheme. It would ultimately not able to agree on was how the process is terminated.

It is astonishing that the government decides to let the talks break down on this basis. The workers demand is exactly the same process and procedure that it was agreed in 2008/2009. It is also fully in line with Parliament’s pension settlement of 2005 which states that the final adjustment will be achieved through negotiations between the parties in the public sector, according to LO, Unio, YS and Academics.

The collapse means that there are changes of the occupational pension scheme for employees in the public sector this collective agreement.
