Man died after falling from high tension towers – VG

A man has died after falling 30 – 35 meters from a high tension towers. The accident occurred between Tonstad and Feda in Oslo.

The deceased is a 32 year old man from Croatia, said police at Twitter.
Relatives are notified by employers.

The police was notified about the accident from AMK little before 10:00 am Friday morning.

– Probable severe fall from electricity mast between Tonstad and Feda. Ambulances and police are called out, notified police at Twitter.

Police considers the accident as an industrial accident. The man must have died instantly after the fall, reports TV 2

Crime Technicians have now moved out of the place.

– It is a crime scene work there. We need to find out what was the cause of the accident, said operations in Agder Police, Audun Eide, told VG.

There is currently a major effort to upgrade and build new power transmission lines between Feda in Kvinesdal and Tonstad in Sirdal. The company Dalekovod is the general contractor on the project. 120 workers from the company working in the area, writes Fædrelandsvennen.

– We have today received the sad news that an employee of our lead contractor Dalekovod have died as a result of a tragic accident. Our thoughts are with the deceased’s family and his colleagues, says Martha Hagerup Nilson, press officer at Statnett, VG.

She adds that Statnett not yet have any information about the accident.

– We hope for your understanding that we do not yet have all the answers to how this could happen, says Nilson.

– Such accidents should not happen. We will now begin an internal investigation to find out how this could happen and how we can prevent this from happening again, says Nilson.
