Right and NHO laws reduction in part-time work – Dagbladet.no

Right and NHO are confident that the changes in the working environment law will reduce the number of people working part-time involuntarily. Fagforbundet believes that structural changes will have negative consequences.

Work Act which comes into force on July 1, will reduce the number of people working part time involuntarily, says Member of Parliament Tina Bru, chairman of the Conservative Party’s equal opportunity committee, told Nationen. She blames the coalition politics that a large proportion of those working part time involuntarily in Norway are women.

– changes the government has made in the Working Environment Act grip pointing in the right direction. It will allow for more flexibility in shifts and more power locally in the design of rotas. It is one of the great things that can solve involuntary part particularly in health care, she said.

NHO director of employment policy, Svein Oppegaard, also believes that the changes could reduce involuntary part.

– The changes in the law makes it possible to increase the limits for average calculation of working time and increases the opportunity to work several Sundays in a row, he said.

Mette Nord, chairman of the Confederation’s Association Fagforbundet, says the ability to hire more temporary will allow more part-time work.

– This is contrary to the equality principle that men and women should have equal opportunities and equal rights in the labor market, she says.
