Norwegian contributions to the Mediterranean presented Thursday – HegnarOnline

Norway has promised to set with a civilian ship by August 1st, but already several weeks ago it became clear that the Norwegian contribution to Operation Triton will be expedited.

“Norway is working for the ship to be in place as quickly as possible. The vessel will initially be available for operation Triton for six months, “wrote Solberg in a letter ten EU leader in April.

After the NRK experiences will ship be available for work already in June. In addition to the crew on the ship, there will be personnel from both armed forces and police on board. It is the police who heads the Norwegian mission.

– What is special about this mission is that it will include rescuing migrants in distress and in many cases to retrieve the dead from the sea, says section chief John Ståle Stamnes the Police Directorate.

Also, representatives of the police and the company is present when the Norwegian ship presented in Bergen on Thursday afternoon.
