The embankment is now cordoned off and police have tonight investigated instead.

– The skull should be examined by forensic experts at the Gade Institute Thursday, says Station Tore Salvesen at Bergen west police station NRK.

The investigations will include clarifying the deceased’s age and how long skull has remained in the soil. About finding may be related to a crime, it is still too early to say.

– we do not know very little about these things. The investigations at the site is closed for tonight. Work will be resumed tomorrow when we have received feedback from Gades Institute, says Tore Salvesen.

Listen to the interview with police chief:

Police who has been on site are quite confident that the skull originated from a human being.

More mysterious disappearances

Several people have been reported missing in Bergen in recent years. Among them the two women Trine Franzen and Dung Tran Larsen. The two disappeared in respectively 2004 and 2007.

– I can think of several cases where we lack a person, said station commander Tore Salvesen at Bergen west police station.

– If there are remnants from some of those now found I can not comment until the coroner has completed its work.

He could late Wednesday evening according to Bergens Tidende not say whether there is damage to the skull.

The discovery was made in a landfill for soil and fill. Police will tomorrow talk further with them who use the area.

Dung-search near the discovery site in 2008

In 2008, it made search by Kyrkje Tangen in Dung Tran Larsen case after that an elderly woman claimed she previous year had seen a man wearing rubber gloves, oil trousers and plastic bags around their feet to dig down a large bundle wrapped in a plastic bag.
