Youngster took garnet from landfill – Fædrelandsvennen

The grenade, which looked like a mortar shell, was found on a filling of a young boy Thursday night. The young boy took the grenade to his aunt, writes Aftonbladet.

– The boy’s aunt was naturally not very excited about what the boy had found and made contact with the boy’s father who then contacted the police, tells Operations Tor Helge Hallstavik in Rogaland police.

Police was notified clock 20.15 Thursday evening and come out to the area where the grenade was added, in a driveway of a residential building. Police evacuated the house where the grenade was lying and kept watch throughout the night.

Armed bomb squad was notified and found the police got the recommendation to allow the grenade lying.



Harmless

The clock 10:15 Good Friday morning police said that the grenade turned out to be a harmless, used flash bang.

– Explosives expert quickly concluded that the grenade is harmless . The evacuation of residential house is revoked, said District Police Operations Tor Helge Hallstavik.

A flash bang a projectile used by the military is used to light the a goal. Often containing such flash bang magnesium ignited and hanging on a parachute.

The grenade is now removed. Police will not proceed with the case.
