Found pig meat halal sausage, vossakorv and beef barbecue – Aftenposten

Norwegian meat industry have skeletons in the closet, again. Now the results of a comprehensive control Norwegian meat that still pops up pig meat where it should be something else entirely.

In ready-made pelmeni – a Russian delicacy right, which shall contain lamb and beef – uncovered DNA samples between 30 and 60 percent pork.

But also in arch Norwegian mutton found FSA swine. In “” Dinner Sausage of vossakorvtype »Fana meat was detected 5-30 percent pork.

– Seller cheap meat expensive

– Food should not pretend to be something it is not. It deliberately using a cheap commodity and then sell it as an expensive commodity is very serious. This is disappointing results, section chief in the FSA, Randi Edvardsen, in a comment on the audit report, which was published on Thursday.

FSA has taken samples of 53 different meat products where pork was not stated as meat raw. It was made in five of the samples. These include a product marketed as Halal slaughtered beef.

The samples were collected in autumn 2014. The companies behind the products in which it was made findings, now being followed up by the FSA.

Cheat also in 2013

Meat inspection comes scarce two years after the FSA revealed that beef topping, halal meat and kebab contained pork. Food that should be pure bovine products containing up to 60 percent of pork, while kebab contained not only meat from sheep and cow, but also against five percent pig meat.

– This is cheating, raging Edvartsen the time.

Pigs, not horse meat

FSA took in 2013 DNA samples of Norwegian meat in the wake of the European horse meat scandal , where they found extensive use of horse meat in several mixes that would contain beef.

It was not revealed cheating with horse meat in Norway.

But here’s pork far cheaper than beef and lamb and it may therefore be much to gain from cheating, says the FSA.

Here is porcine findings:

  • Bull Wiener Halal from Smedstuen farm AS, proven 5.1 percent pork
  • Middagspøle of vossakorvtype Fana meat, proven 5-30 percent pork
  • Minced Fana meat, proven 1.5 percent pork
  • Bones Steak Grill from Bønes farm food, proven 5.1 percent pork
  • Russian Pelmeni from Russian delicacies proven 30-60 percent pork

– Getting money back

Eastern European delicacies, which only sells imported goods to other wholesalers and stores, on their websites notified of the error:

“It is found errors in product Pelmeni w / beef and lamb of labeled “Russian Pelmeni” with best before date 27/07/15 when this party contains pork. Anyone who has purchased the product can return it to the dealer where it was purchased, and get back the money. “Writes on his website.

– Unacceptable with halal filth

– We is disappointed that we still find undeclared interference with pork. We also think it is unacceptable that companies that want to produce food labeled as “halal” does not have sufficient good routines to do it. We will follow up on, and we look Clearly the need to continue with these tests, says Edvardsen FSA.

Meat inspection was carried out in Trondheim, Stavanger, Bergen, Drammen and Oslo and Nordland.

Stopped contaminated food

Fana meat had two of the products where the FSA did swine findings. In the small western slaughterhouse get Aftenposten reported that the Quality Manager is the only one who can speak and he is absent for the day. But we are told that the parties with the relevant products are stopped and that it should no longer be “filth” in vossakorven and cattle mince theirs.

“food scandals courts veg for more local food. At Fana Meat on Midttun focus is on building the brand of handmade delicacies. “Wrote Bergens Tidende about family slaughterhouse in 2013.

– Can not afford to be caught for cheating

– It’s probably not a negative for us that the major manufacturers are revealed in using techniques that allow consumers feel cheated. A small company like ours can not behave this way. We can not afford to be taken that the goods are not real affairs, said Tore Paulsen from Fana meat to the newspaper at the time.

Aftenposten has not managed to get some commentsReviews from responsible within Smestuen farm, which produced halal sausages of beef where it was found swine residues.

DNA against matsvindel

FSA goes far in suggesting that matsvindel may lie behind when the lab reveals tracks or content of meat from the wrong animals in DNA samples. Not only is it fraud, but food safety also threatened that they do not know anything about meat origin, believes the FSA, indicating that DNA samples becomes a permanent control method in the future.

– There will always be someone who will be tempted to cheat with the food we eat to earn quick money. Strict requirements for production and labeling of food, transparency and traceability are important elements to combat fraud, writes audit report about swine findings.
