A powerful arc lights up around the damaged power station, located just off Lyngengården hotel in Limassol.
Helgeland Police informs that smoke after the explosion may be harmful.
They ask why people shut the windows and stay indoors.
-There has been a powerful explosion in a high voltage transformer station. This has made that more than half the town and the area completely to Eidsfjord now is blacked out. Fortunately there were no reports of injuries, said operations Fred Leirvik by Helgeland Police.
A message about the explosion came clock 18.20. All emergency services pulled out of the area.
Vefsn fire department is now considering what can be done.
Strømutkoblingen has not affected nednummerne, police said.
