Doubting in KrF abortion proposals – Dagsavisen

The proposal by Christian Democrat program committee for mandatory reflection time 1-2 days before a woman can get an abortion has aroused debate last week. Now the entire program draft for public consultation in the party. Daily has called the Christian Democratic Party county leaders to hear their immediate thoughts about the proposal, currently being discussed in the grassroots. Of those who were available on Palm Sunday, there was broad consensus that Vision Zero abortion issue still must be central to the party, but not everyone thought the proposal reflection time is right medicine.

– Plan carefully

county leader in Sor-Trondelag KrF, Heidi Pawlik Carlsen, supports the program in the idea of strengthening counseling before an abortion. Reflection Tida she is more skeptical.

– I think that those who have chosen to go to that step, and wants to have an abortion, has thought carefully about it. This is probably not something they take lightly, says Carlsen.

She is unsure whether the proposal will work as intended.

– In my opinion, it is important to work with good information in advance, and then often before an unwanted pregnancy, Carlsen says.

She believes that a more pragmatic approach to the abortion issue may be the way to go, with financial support, information in schools and free contraception. In the program draft also proposes free contraception up to age 24 years.

– small significance

county leader Jon Christian Anker in Troms KrF supports the program to continue working towards Vision Zero and Heine about KrF principled stance on the abortion issue. But right proposal reflection time he is unsure.

– The new proposal is designed now, I’m unsure if it would have much practical significance. It does not go as fast in health care in Norway that you obtain an abortion in the day. In most cases, it at least a few days anyway, says Anker.

– Arrogant Ap

None of the county teams have concluded the issue, and many have not even begun to discuss it. But several had thoughts on the polarized debate that quickly flared up again.

county leader in Hordaland KrF, Pål Kaarbø, says Labor disappointed in their response to the proposal.

– I’m a little surprised especially Jonas Gahr Støre’s approach. I have previously said that the Labor Party must practice to understand the Christian Democrats. Here I think Solberg was slightly better in their approach.

Labor leader Jonas Gahr Støre told VG that he was surprised that Prime Minister Erna Solberg (H) needed a day to clarify that she is opposed to mandatory “thinking time”.

– He used this opportunity to interject some cheap rhetorical points when Solberg spent time to anchor this in the party. Taking a round and assess the proposal before a report refutes that takes KrF seriously. I mean Ap chose a more arrogant approach, similar to what we saw in the reservation right-controversy, says Kaarbø.

Ap towards Vision Zero

Labour’s family and equality spokesperson Anette Trettebergstuen mean just Reservation controversy and the proposal for mandatory tenketid clarifies that it needed a clear defender of abortion law.

– It is not necessary to weaken it. We can agree with KrF on preventive measures, like information campaigns, prevention measures, and family policies that make it easier for example to be a student and parents. What we will do is reinforce the burden on the woman and put her election in doubt. We’d rather not moralize over it, says Jaded Bergestuen.

Labor politician believes it to have a zero vision itself may be unfortunate.

– We’ll stick with zero visions of things that are undesirable and detrimental to society. Abortion is not. Talking about zero vision for abortion sends a very unfortunate signal to those women who have had, or are about to should have an abortion, she said.
