- IS has used chemical weapons – Dagbladet.no

Extremist Group IS has used chemical weapons, according to CIA Director John Brennan. He also says that the group is able to produce smaller amounts of chlorine gas and mustard gas.

– We know of several cases where the IS has used chemical weapons on the battlefield, says Brennan TV channel CBS, as Thursday showed excerpts from the program “60 minutes,” which airs Sunday.

channel stated that Brennan has told extremist group also is capable of producing small amounts of mustard gas and chlorine gas for use in weapons.

Fears export

– There are reports that iS has access to chemical ingredients and weapons they can use, says Brennan. He also warns that the group may try to export such weapons to gain money.

– There is always a potential for it. Therefore it is important to shut down transport and trafficking routes they have used, he adds.

Asked whether it’s US assets on the ground looking for chemical arsenals or labs, black CIA director that “US intelligence is actively involved in efforts to crush iS and obtain as good an insight as possible in what they have on the ground in Syria and Iraq.”

First since 1995

the excerpts from the interview with Brennan published two days after intelligence chief James Clapper came with similar comments in a committee hearing in Congress.

He showed it to the use of corrosive mustard gas and said it is the first time an extremist group has produced and used chemical weapons since the sect Aum Shinrikyo sarin attack in Tokyo in 1995. 12 people were killed when the group released nerve gas on subway during rush hour.

last year enlightened officials in the autonomous Kurdish region in northern Iraq that blood tests showed that IS fighters had used mustard gas attacks against Kurdish Peshmerga forces.
