- Preparedness is far better today than 22 July 2011 – NRK

It was during the hearing in Parliament today that the Minister of Justice was asked whether protection in Norway. According to the Auditor General The investigation, the Justice Ministry’s coordination and management as major weaknesses that it weakens the safety and preparedness in Norway.

– I think people can feel confident that we have a good emergency response and civil protection in Norway present day. But that of course does not mean we can be better, said Anundsen.

When asked if we we have better preparedness now than 22 July 2011, the Minister of Justice is clear:

– There is no doubt that it is better. I support the Lea and Humlegårdsvägen said earlier today.

Believe report dissidence

Anundsen denies that the political leadership shows inability to absorb OAG’s report on Norwegian emergency work.

– Auditor General’s report is a dissidence. But there are many operational areas of emergency work that report does not cover. We are working well with, and the work does not stop, said Anundsen after hearing final Saturday.

He believes shortcomings as the report notes, are things that have already been addressed. Among other things, pointed to cooperation problems between departments in the Ministry.

– surveys are too narrow

Director of the Directorate for Civil Protection and Emergency Planning (DSB) Jon A. Lea believes the investigations undertaken in this report is so narrow that it is wrong to criticize the general response in Norway.

– I think that much of what they write in the report is good food for thought. But it is narrow, and it concerns at least not for Civil Protection and Emergency as such, he says to NRK.

Do you take this criticism personally?

– No, not at all. We are keen to have an overview of how contingency and societal security in Norway looks, where the shoe pinches, and record it. It has nothing to do with emotion or person to do at all.

Humble Attorney

– It is worrying that administration show so little willingness to learn, nor go in confrontation with what is intended as a necessary care, says Martin Kolberg who heads the Audit Committee.

Justice Minister Anders Anundsen (FRP) shows for the first time that he will learn from OAG report points out shortcomings in preparedness work, says manager Martin Kolberg (Ap) of the Control Committee.

– We saw now a more humble Justice, which clearly has put aside what he wrote in the letter to the Auditor General that this was a crazy report. It’s good he says he will take the learning of the report, says Kolberg NTB after hearing the Audit Committee Saturday.

However, he is not happy with that Anundsen would not reject criticism DSB director Lea had the Auditor General’s conclusions.

– This is a problem that the agency has operational responsibility, thinks it has nothing to learn, says Kolberg.
