More money gave several public health nurses – Aftenposten

The number of employees in health clinics and school health services has increased, according to figures from Statistics Norway (SSB). It includes physicians, but the increase is greatest for nurses. In 2014 it was registered an increase of 157 FTEs, equal to 7.2 percent.

– We see that the focus on school health has yielded results, said Health and Human Services Bent Høie (H).

200 million next year

The year before there was a decrease in FTEs at health centers and school health overall. Now it appears that trend has reversed.

– We believe municipalities will follow up on also when they see that this is not a one-off investment, says Høie.

The government allocated 270 million to health centers and school health in 2015, and has announced an increase of NOK 200 million for the services of the municipal bill for next year.

Used money on other

Land group of nurses have previously shown examples of municipalities where the money is spent on other purposes. It is not unknown for the minister of health.

– The figures show that not all the money went to several positions. But some have alleged that the money was not working and these figures clearly show that it does, says Høie. He believes there is no reason to allocate funds.

– We avoid bureaucracy that entails earmarking. Then one must apply for funding and document the event. When would a great deal of resources to go with the bureaucracy, he said.

Together, increased FTEs in health centers and school health services with 112 in 2014. There has been a growth in the number of health visitors, nurses, doctors, physiotherapists and midwives while there was a decline in employees with different professional qualifications. (© NTB)
