12 arrested for illegal Ulvejakt

Altogether 12 people were arrested, but the cases against the other six were later dropped.

Illegal hunting for decades

The prosecutor in the case, Public Prosecutor Tarjei Istad in Økokrim now hold his opening argument:

– The reason that you have allocated resources and work against what they believe is targeted Ulvejakt is that police have received messages and tips about illegal Ulvejakt throughout the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s, says Istad.

He believes that illegal hunting of the total protected wolf probably has been happening ever since it came back in Norwegian fauna 1970s.
