Bondevik on Sunday opening of stores: – The Government must turn – VG

Former Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik urge the government turns on the question of Sunday opening stores.

Today Ministry of Culture has presented its proposal for Sunday open stores. Ministry wants it but promotes one suggestion for where the municipalities to decide whether to open or not, that the Left has advocated.

– We had hoped that the government would pay attention to us. Everyone knows how important this issue is for KrF, says parliamentary representative Geir Bekkevold said.

Also LO is critical.

– The government is equipped with blinders and put common sense aside, says LO 1. secretary Peggy Hesse Følsvik.

What KrF and LO says, does not seem to be emphasized and Bondevik asking the government to think about.

– Sunday Open stores are not something people claim. On the contrary. Poll shows big resistance, yes, even in the two coalition parties. In such a situation, where there is great resistance, I think the Conservatives and the Progress Party may prove so welcome that they provide KrF successful in the case.

– Not great sacrifice

Bondevik says KrF should get approval.

– I said I do not as a politician. When the resistance is so great the people, there is no great sacrifice for the two coalition parties to give up. I think KrF has shown great flexibility in the issue of the Working Environment Act and then I think the party should gain ground in the case of Sunday opening stores, says the former Christian Democratic Party prime minister.

KrF has been accused of breach from both Labor and Unions after the proposed new labor laws were put forward.

– I’m disappointed. Here we see that KrF has received very little support in the negotiations, and that the amendments mainly composed. This will result in a resolution in Parliament that makes everyday work harder for most people. KrF leader Knut Arild Hareide said ahead of the final agreement that he would fight against Sunday work with all means.

– We want a family friendly, inclusive and flexible employment. Therefore, we go against the government’s proposals for greater access to temporary employment, more Sunday work and Sunday open stores, said Hareide to the party national conference in late January.

– We want the least possible weekend work. Therefore it is important for KrF to determine that at least every fourth Sunday must be free, said Christian Democrat Kjell Ingolf Ropstad.
