LO will strike against the government – Aftenposten

In a meeting in LO Monday it was decided that in January / February next year to carry out a two-hour strike across the country to protest against the government’s proposals, NRK reported.

LO Secretariat warns in a statement Parliament strongly against adopting the proposal, which LO believe will alter the basic safety of the Norwegian working life.

– LO secretariat states that H / FRP government with its proposal more temporary and weakening labor laws, is on a collision course with a total Norwegian trade unions, LO.

Thus not participating Unions in the forthcoming political strike Parat planning to conduct Tuesday.

General Strike

– I urge main organizations to conduct a general strike in protest against the proposal on temporary employment, says deputy Vegard Einan Parat Dagens Næringsliv .

Einan says he believes other parts of the labor movement will join a general strike, perhaps already during Monday. The hope is that you come to a common point for a broad political selection.

– We have had calls both YS and with other key organizations. We get support from both members and officers who are seeking more action. A general strike will really show unanimous resistance, and I do not think it will be a problem, says Einan.

Earlier Monday warned Widerøes Pilots Association that it supports Tuesday’s political selection, although the invitation came so late that they miss to participate in the strike.

Support from pilots

– Although Widerøes Pilots Association formally not in Tuesday’s selection, supports pilots our colleagues in the cabin which is organized in Parat. The bill has dramatic consequences for Norwegian working life, and as responsible workers we can not accept a proposal that will have consequences for young workers in the establishment phase, for women in the workplace and increased safety on Norwegian jobs, says leader of the pilot union, Tom Liverud.

Director of employment policy in NHO central Svein Oppegaard, said at the weekend that the strike is such a “disproportionate response” that he believes it is possible to get Parat to cancel the strike. It rejected, however Vegard Einan. (© NTB)
