– The operator says the situation is under control. We are told that there should have been a pump that was close, said operations Geir Roar Nesbø by Western Finnmark police.
Police was notified about the incident on the gas system clock 10:04 Monday morning. Altogether 33 employees were evacuated from the site, but can now drop in again.
– It made measurements where people reside, and these show a level that is far below what is dangerous, says Nesbø.
Police have left the place.
Media Contact Oliver Heradstveit Statoil says to Finnmark Dagblad that the alarm went in conjunction with a test drive of a pump in one of the main systems in the process.
– This pump failed during the test. There were no injuries in the incident, and the plant was immediately evacuated, he said.
