Deviation

NTB emphasizes that their current numbers may differ slightly from annual statistics to NCIS. This is because some murder will not fit into NCIS ‘definition of murder by year end. NCIS counts in its annual statistics only deliberate and willful killing, ie homicide under the Penal Code §233. That means assault and bodily harm resulting in death (Penal Code L-228 and §229) not counted.

In addition, this case received much attention in 2015, but are not considered in NTB statistics for year

* 25 June 2014: 61 years old Helge Irgens is found dead in his home in Sunderland outside Bergen. The autopsy shows he died of carbon monoxide poisoning and drugs. His Filipino spouse being questioned but not charged. The 30-year woman, however, arrested and charged with premeditated murder as she returns to Norway on 18 February 2015 after a holiday. (© NTB)
