Agreeing in asylum children matter – VG

Left and KrF got last draft approval for several of their demands to bring home more asylum children. The price is that refugees may lose residence if the return is considered safe.

At a press conference in the Ministry of Justice on Wednesday evening it became clear that the four non-socialist parties have agreed a new deal in asylum children matter.

– I am now glad that we have an agreement in port. I understand that this is one of the most demanding areas between the four parties, Prime Minister Erna Solberg.

– This has been a challenging process for all four parties . All have had to give and all have had to take. I see that some people say that I have suggested in the table, but it has not happened, says Solberg.

– The consensus is softening that returned asylum children get the opportunity to get taken up his case again, and this applies to those who are sent out between 1 July 2014 to 18 March 2015, it concerns quite a few children.

Justice Minister Anders Anundsen took the word by Solberg.

– It has been a balance of the agreement, and this is a area of great political spread between the four parties, we shall have frequent meetings to ensure to clear that we can cooperate better, says Anundsen.

– fair deal

Liberal Party leader Trine Skei Grande says that children have been the priority for the Liberals and Christian Democrats.

– Left and KrF its starting point has been the kids and now we’ve got through that all are treated again through the new agreement. This does not mean that everyone in this group is going to come to Norway, but it means that they should be re-evaluated, and under the same criteria. And it has been the principle for us, says Grande.

Knut Arild Hareide (KrF) says his party now experiencing agreement as fair.

– This are cases that means a lot to all parties but we have different standpoint. On behalf of the Liberal Party and the Christian Democratic Party, I can say that there has been a strong commitment. Therefore we are pleased that this agreement comes through. Something we are very excited, and then there are others tring we accept from a holistic perspective. For us it was important to get a look at the issues again, especially for those who had been here longer than 4.5 years. We are experiencing justice.

– Anundsen must prove worthy of the trust

– It is evident is that we have set an ultimatum that children who have been there 4.5 years and been sent out would come back, says Hareide told VG.

– We have helped to ensure that children far less would be detained. This is tangible solutions that are good.

– Why do KrF give something, when there are Anundsen who created this problem?

– Because we also has received the demands we basically asked. We are helping to give. So I think that this agreement has a whole I can set me back, said Hareide.

– Are you now sure Anders Anundsen is the right man to lead the Justice Department?

– I certainly welcome the dialogue I have had with Anundsen recent days. It is a serious criticism we’ve come with, but it is important that he get the opportunity to prove a new trusty, said Hareide.

– Not defeat

This has been a complicated process, as we sat down the tone was constructive, says Anundsen.

– Is this a defeat for your party?

– No, it is not. It is important for us that we now get a tightening, says Justice Minister.

Anundsen will not say how many children who would be coming back.

– I hope we put the past behind us and focus on this four-party cooperation, it is important for the country, he said.

Jensen says that asylum agreement throughout has been fulfilled and that the supplementary agreement balances out KrF and Liberals want.

– For that we should come KrF and Left meeting was important for us to get through some cutbacks, says Jensen.

Longer periods

The five let finishing touches on Prime Minister’s Office Wednesday night.

The final draft as Wednesday afternoon was presented to team meetings in government and centrist parties were several of the points in the sketch from Tuesday as KrF thought was too bad, including several of the disputed claims from FRP.

** In the sketch, the Government wished that the centrist parties should go with that number kvotefyktninger UN was put down if seconded asylum children were allowed to return . That point is now taken away.

** In the original proposal had children and their families have lived at least 4.5 years in Norway in order to get their cases reconsidered. In the new proposal the residence in Norway to qualify as “long remain” set to four years. This allows multiple child families sent out in the fall a second chance.

** The proposed center parties could not accept a desire to add a requirement that quota refugees as unaccompanied to Norway could not get family reunification children who were with a caregiver. This requirement should have been dropped.

** shall be set aside money for the families who were sent out last fall must be traceable up and be aware that they can have their case reconsidered, and that they should get legal assistance from NOAS.

These requirements stood Left and KrF so hard that Prime Minister Erna Solberg will have “turned the table” to get Progress Party leader Siv Jensen to accept the solution.

Progress victories

Earlier Wednesday was Justice Minister Anders Anundsen (FRP) in a secret meeting with FRP deputy Per Sandberg, who VG made it clear that FRP demanded an austerity in other areas of asylum and immigration policy to accept asylum children already sent out can get their cases reconsidered.

And at some points have FRP won approval:

* * Refugees who come to Norway shall henceforth had to report within six months whom they wish to seek reunification with. The deadline is now one year.

** agreement also includes an agreement to work to reveal polygamy among refugees and asylum seekers, to limit the possibility of family reunification for persons with multiple spouses.

** Refugees who have not lived long enough to get a Norwegian passport, should be able to lose their refugee status if they go on holiday to their homeland.

** Refugees who have been granted temporary but not permanent stay in Norway, could lose their refugee status if it is no longer deemed unsafe to send them out of the country.

The last point is important especially FRP, but set far inside center parties to accept. It is so also with the current regulations, but currently practiced there. The new is that the immigration authorities will have earmarked funds to follow up refugees and take new assessments if it has been safe to send them out of the country before they get a Norwegian passport.
