Council of Europe to investigate child protection – Dagsavisen

 
 

– Norway has like all other countries benefit from being looked on the cards if we live human rights, says Ingjerd Schou (H) to NRK.

 
 

Schou is the leader of the Norwegian delegation in the Council of Europe and stresses that she said anything about child welfare in general, not about Naustdal case in particular.

 
 

The CPS took last fall five children from a Norwegian-Romanian of parents in Naustdal Municipality in Sogn og Fjordane. This summer parents kids back, but the police took charges against the couple. The couple, who are now accused of violence against their children, have moved to Romania.

 
 

The case has created huge commitment and strong reactions, and in other countries – both in Europe and in North America – there have been widespread protests against the Norwegian child welfare system.

 
 

– Mostly it is much good in Norway, but it is not so that human rights are violated in other countries, but never in Norway, says Schou. (NTB)
