– There is no doubt that the health problems that Kristin’s mother experienced, are directly linked to the murder of her daughter, said counsel Nora Hallén when she litigated on the assessment of damages and compensation Monday.

Kristin case draws to a close in Court of Appeal. The 40-year-old defendant is found guilty by the jury. Now it remains for the court to determine how severe punishment he will be judged and the degree to which he is liable to the murdered girl’s parents.

Kristin’s mother is diagnosed with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which in turn has led to extensive physical health problems. Also the girl’s sister has got PTSD as a result of murder, according Hallén.

Lawyer Hallén asking the court go 300,000 kroner more than double of what is the norm in Norwegian law, of 200,000 kroner for parents. In addition, a not quantified claims from her sister.

The pure economic losses as a result of ongoing expenses and loss of income of the 17 years that have passed since the murder, amount to just under 4 million kroner. (© NTB)
