More “båtkirkegårder” revealed in Oslofjord – Aftenposten

Three of the sites are located less than 20 meters deep, and it is probably between 10 and 20 boats in each place, writes VG. Police believe several of the boats on the sea bottom can be lowered on purpose, either in connection with insurance fraud or just to get rid of them without paying for it.

– This is not just accidentally, to speak says deputy Eigil Haugen in Oslo Police sea service. He says the next natural step would be to send down divers to investigate.

– If it appears that there is a natural reason why the boats lying on the seabed, we will investigate the matter further, says Haugen . He notes that it is both hazardous and punishable lowering an old boat to escape the cost of proper disposal.

One of the fishermen in the bay say the strangest things can pop up in the nets, everything from refrigerators to shipwrecks. Some fishermen have also witnessed the boats have ended up in the sea at dusk.
