KrF: Considering lower alcohol tax for beer – VG

Christian Democrat Hans Olav Syversen hope it may lead to lower alcohol consumption and discourage smuggling beer into Norway

It has so far this year been tried smuggled over 260 000 liters of beer into Norway. And this month reported VG about the record seizure of Eastern European beer.

– If it turns out that this could lead to both a lower alcohol and discourage smuggling beer into Norway, since it is well few who oppose such a move, said parliamentary leader Hans Olav Syversen in KrF TV 2.

the reason for the statement is that the party was in meetings with the Norwegian brewery and beverage association Monday. Association presented reports and statistics with figures from Customs showing that smuggling beer into Norway has eleven doubled from 1999 to 2014.

Norway situated high on fee top in Europe. And Brewery Association said the TV channel that they think this makes it good business to smuggle beer into Norway.

In 2014, also supported KrF extended hours at Vinmonopolet. This was because they believed that it weakened the chances of wine in store.

Possible majority in Parliament

About KrF advocates lower alcohol taxes will be a majority for this in Parliament when the next Budget will be discussed.

Previously Right meant that tax cuts on low alcohol beverages can help reduce your overall intake of alcohol.

About a year ago they went out with a requirement cheaper beer.

They explained this by saying that Norwegian alcohol taxes has meant that consumption patterns moving in the direction of stronger drinks.
