Croatian man killed in work accident in Nordland – Dagbladet.no

A line fitter from Croatia were killed Monday in an accident at Statnett’s facilities at Lower Røssåga power plant in Hemnes in Nordland. This is the second fatal accident at Statnett’s facilities in three weeks.

– Police in Helgeland received just before the clock 15 notification of an accident at work, and at 16 o’clock the police got the message that one person had died as a result , said police inspector Linda room in Nordland police told NRK.

the installer who perished is from Croatia and was employed in a subsidiary to Nettpartner, working for Statnett in Hemnes, informs channel.



Woeful news

– We have received the sad message that an employee of one of our subcontractors have died, said Executive Vice President Elisabeth Vardheim Statnett.

According to the company said the accident happened in connection with the use of line unit on the power line. The company says to NTB that it was not a fall that caused the fatal accident.

Police are at the scene and Labour Inspectorate is notified. Statnett will assist the investigation, in addition to conducting its own investigation.

This is the second accident in just over two weeks in which a person dies while working for Statnett.



Other Croats who die

Friday 15 April dead a 32 year old man as he went up to 35 meters from a high tension towers between Tonstad and Feda Vest-Agder. The man was also from Croatia and worked for the Croatian company Dalekovod performing work on the wiring harness to Statnett.

Statnett says to NTB that the fatal accident Tuesday did not happen in the same way as the previous one.

– We will investigate this incident thoroughly, says Henrik Glette, communications manager at Statnett NTB .



Stops use of line units

All work with the use of line units in all Statnett’s projects and in the operation of power lines is temporarily stopped due to the accident, the company said on its pages.

Norwegian Water Resources and energy Directorate gave Statnett last year permit to construct and operate approximately 5.7 km of power lines in parallel with the existing power line in Trøndelag, instead of along Nordlandsbanen.
