Krekar demand redress from the state – NRK

Ahmad was detained on suspicion of intimidation, but was acquitted after sitting 285 days in custody.

Now requires Ahmad, known as Mullah Krekar, redress from the state, writes TV2.

– There are two circumstances justifying raising. One is the number of days you’ve been sitting. And then there is the case that you also get redress when they have been destroyed his good name and reputation, says mullahs lawyer Brynjar Meling to the channel.

Media attention

Ahmad warned already after acquittal that he would ask for money from the state.

the time estimated Meling amount to be at around 140,000 kroner, could NRK tell. In addition, he notified a requirement as well as a result of media attention.

– So, people can like it or lump it. But that’s it and then it’s the law you disagree with any. But even those who are against Mullah Krekar must accept that laws and rights also apply to him, said Meling told NRK in March.

Living at home

The Ministry of Justice received before Christmas a formal extradition request from Italy, and June 9, Oslo District Court to decide whether Ahmad can be sent out of the country.

Meling told TV 2 that Krekar currently live at home with family and have resumed studies and teaching.

– he’s at it again with legitimate business as he perceives it. He has been all along, says Meling told TV 2.
