– It is very fun to end up on top. This is a tribute to all municipal employees who stand on each day, and the politicians who have shown prudence over many years. We are one of the few municipalities that have money in the bank, says a proud mayor of Alvdal, Johnny Hagen (Ap) NRK.no.

He has “open door” -day at mayor office in the small mountain village Fridays, but has of course been with the top ranking. He says it is a major boost for the entire municipality.
Municipal Barometer is a comparison of municipalities made by the Municipal Report, based on a total of 124 key figures in 12 different sectors. The purpose is to give local politicians around the country an easily understandable and accessible overview of how the municipality operates.

in barometer rank relatively small municipalities top. Alvdal (2426 inhabitants), Jølster in Sogn og Fjordane (3078) and Siljan Telemark (2349) is the country’s top three.
The three main towns harbors a piece down the list: Oslo 215 . space, Bergen and Trondheim 163. space on 100th.

– No, but it’s probably easier to implement a change quickly. If one really decides to better results on an area, you can make changes relatively quickly in a small organization with few units, says Ole Petter Pedersen, news editor in Municipal Report.
– The may be difficult to implement policies throughout the service in large municipalities. In a small municipality with one school is probably much easier to make an effort to raise the grade level than in a municipality with 50 schools – which leads the effort perhaps to raised levels of three schools, but then there will still be 47 schools with lower grade levels .
Common to Oslo, Bergen and Trondheim is that they score poorly on health and / or elderly, according to Pedersen.

Ole Petter Pedersen Kommunal Rapport believes, however, not the municipal barometer can be cited for those who do not want the municipal merger.
– I think one should be careful to argue both for and against municipal merger on the basis of this survey. However, one may use it for is to see a little cynical about it to assess which municipalities is the best mate of a possible merger, he said.
Pedersen emphasizes that the most important thing barometer is pointing to which areas each municipality excels at, and what it is for the so municipalities can learn from each other.
– it is typical for municipalities that overall is doing well is that they are working systematically over time in those areas where they have lagged behind. Having self-knowledge that one can learn from others, is the first step. It may be too easy to think that you do not have so much to learn from the young, just because one is great.
On the bottom of the North
At the other end of the scale fills municipalities from the three northernmost counties bottom positions. Meloy Nordland harbors very bottom, at 428 place.
Mayor Sigurd Stormo (Ap) sees no reason to explain away jumbo place in Municipal Norway.
– Last space is unfortunate , it is not good for the reputation. We will roll up our sleeves and do a job to get a better score, says Meloy-mayor NRK.no
Overall ranking still positive. Never before has Kommunal Rapport measured as substantial progress for Municipal-Norway now. The key figures in economics, kindergarten and child protection has been significantly improved, while environmental and cultural figures deteriorate.
BOTTOM PLACE : Meløy harbors entirely on the bottom in the municipal barometer. Mayor Sigurd Stormo is disappointed.
