In January Reitan Reviewed 120 of its competitors. Now use Rema 1000 de … – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): In January Reviewed Rema 1000 all 120 competitors who kept open on Sundays throughout the country. The store chain said they remained open in violation of the law.

Reitan accused among other competitors in Norway, Coop and Bunnpris for violating the law on holidays and helligdagsfred and to cheat by including retrieving goods to customers from shuttered areas.

– The current regulations are not enforced – and for those who exploit it, increasing sales on Sunday. Either the government must enforce the law, or they must all grocery stores be allowed to stay open on Sundays, said Ole Robert Reitan at the time.

Changed policy

But Easter has a lot of customers noticed that Rema 1000 a number of places have done exactly the same “offenses” that Reitan accused its competitors in order in January.

Rema 1000 store at Fredensborg in Oslo, for example, parts of the retail area closed off to keep open on a public holiday, but on a nice patch were these: “Ask us for an item if you can not find it myself.”

When Dagbladet rings CEO Kent Bratlien Windahl, he explains that this is in line with the new guidelines he has received from Rema 1000 central.

– I can not speak for other stores, but I have been offered to stay open on Sundays and been told that it is fine to help customers with goods from elsewhere in the store, says Windahl Dagbladet.

– Interpreted for strictly

Communications Director of Rema 1000, Mette Fossum Beyer, confirms that this is in line with the company new guidelines.

– we reviewed the other stores because we wanted a clarification from politicians and authorities on how the law should be interpreted. The reviews are being shelved and politicians show no willingness to do something about this, so when we draw the conclusion that we have interpreted the law too strictly, says Fossum Beyer told Dagbladet.

Another Rema 1000 -filial in Oslo other hand went even further and opened all the store 2. Easter Sunday – a shop area who is thus far greater than what is allowed in relation to “Brustadbua.”

– I do not know the specific case, but it is not in line with what we have communicated to our merchants, says Fossum Beyer.

– after having reviewed their competitors, you have now given up the whole concept of “Brustadbua”?

– There were probably many who had given up before us, so we are in that case the past who have given up on this. We see no other option than to do the same as the other competitors, so we can compete on equal terms, says Fossum Beyer.
