Torbjørn Røe Isaksen into the tank – Dagsavisen

To respond SV leader Audun Lysbakken the decision to Minister Torbjørn Røe Isaksen (H) to discontinue the pilot project with 600 more teachers in secondary schools. The scheme was approved by the coalition government in autumn 2012.

Dagsavisen publicized case both Thursday and Friday.

– The Minister should all be interested in knowledge. Instead, he has shown a total lack of interest in a project to 1.5 billion, says Lysbakken.

He believes at least Røe Isaksen should have ensured, a continuous evaluation of the pilot project before he made the decision to liquidate it.

– Everything else is unserious, says Lysbakken.

– Embarrassing retreat

When SV leader raised the issue in Parliament on Thursday, with a background in Dagsavisen lookup, responded Røe Isaksen including the following:

“If one is to conduct good follow-up research, one can not do it two or three years out of a project, then one must from the first minute to rig the formative evaluation, so that one can document any positive effects of it. It was not done. When it was not possible to do anything about it afterwards. “

– Røe Isaksen responded by attacking the coalition government, but it is he who has neglected to do something, says Lysbakken.

– The national budget for 2013 states that there should be follow-up research associated with the project.

This was also Røe Isaksen aware during the debate.

“It was not right that it was not related follow-up research to it in principle, but it is true that it was not followed up with follow-up research. Granted, even in heated debates, “he had to eventually acknowledge.

– An embarrassing retreat, commenting Lysbakken.

– The Minister has not done its job. First Thursday he discovered it.

– Need positions

Lysbakken commitment to the issue is not surprising, as it was just SV by the then Education Minister Kristin Halvorsen, who ensured that secondary schools was strengthened with 600 teaching positions over a four year period.

– Preferably should we have seen that these positions were permanent, but we did not succeed, says Lysbakken.

– How do you know that it is appropriate to continue these positions before an evaluation that it can even call for, have been taken?

– The feedback I have received from schools and teachers is that there has been a very strong need for additional resources. With these teachers are possible teaching in smaller groups, or also several teachers in larger groups. The ability to monitor each and those lagging behind are also larger, responding Lysbakken.

– Right is not a fan of increasing teacher density. They were opposed to the 600 positions when the decision was made, he added.
