NVE: – Can be reason to worry – NRK

On Sunday afternoon sent Meteorological Institute obsvarsel that are expected heavy rainfall in interior regions of Hordaland and Sogn og Fjordane and Møre og Romsdal from Monday night.

The duty meteorologist at the Meteorological Institute Kjersti Opstad Strand says that locally can be 30-50 mm rainfall during Monday.

– A low pressure coming from the south during the night, would give precipitation tomorrow. It can be powerful in a period, especially in the morning. In the morning, it seems to ease, but then we get a new batch of heavy rain in the evening.

The rain may increase the chance of flooding in some places, says brigt Samdal in Norwegian rivers and Energy Directorate (NVE).

– It looks like we have reached the top in relation to snowmelt, but we are uncertain how rainfall is during the day today and tomorrow. We get a lot of snowmelt combined with rain, the situation may worsen in some places.

Friday sent NVE out a so-called orange flood warnings for eight counties in Norway. The forecast is the second highest alert and can involve extensive flooding and flood damage exposed areas.

forecast applies to parts of the counties of Aust-Agder, Buskerud, Hordaland, Møre og Romsdal, Oppland, Hordaland, Sogn og Fjordane and Telemark.

NVE maintains alert level Sunday, but says that the risk of flooding will top out on Monday night.

– The biggest challenges we will get on Monday, when it reported high rainfall, says Samdal.

NVE pays particular on the situation on Voss and Odda. Here, rainfall will be greatest on Monday night and Monday morning.

– are expected 10.6 millimeters of rain over six hours Monday morning. This rainfall can cause flooding, said meteorologist.

NVE, in cooperation with local crisis management, following the situation closely.
