Male (22) died of synthetic cannabis – VG

A 22-year-old man from North Trondelag died during the Easter weekend after using synthetic cannbis. The death is the first known case in Norway.

The autopsy report shows that the man from Namsos died of cardiac arrest after using synthetic marijuana category MDMB writes Trønder-Avisa.

Chief Andreas Westin at St. Olav’s Hospital confirms that one never before seen deaths after use of synthetic marijuana in Norway.

– There is no previous deaths that can be clearly linked to the consumption of synthetic cannabis, but it is important to emphasize that many deceased are autopsied, and that one does not always manage to find these substances by autopsies because one does not know what to look for, says Westin said.

Align in his bedroom

Nord-Trøndelag drug first appeared in the last three to four years. Investigation Director Leif Gundersen in Nord-Trøndelag Police warns strongly against synthetic cannabis.

– This is a tragic case. Now we need people to open their eyes, for there to sit in his room and compromising with items that you find on the internet is dangerous, he says to Trønder-Avisa.

Doubling in seizures

Customs seizure statistics show that the agency has never seized so much new synthetic drugs on their way to Norwegian mailboxes.

In 2014 they stopped eleven kilograms so-called synthetic drugs, also called new psychoactive substances (NPS) – a doubling compared with the previous year. Such substances are chemically produced imitations of the traditional drugs.

Customs Director Bjørn Røse has previously stated VG that new synthetic drugs that are the biggest and most dangerous drug threat we face in Europe and Norway.

The availability deadlines

Two years ago interviewed VG a 24 year old uses of synthetic cannabis.

The woman said that when she smoked her first dose of synthetic cannabinoids home on lodgings, she knew that the risk of overdose was imminent. Meanwhile, she was so happy to have found a simple way to acquire drugs, through the mail.

– I did not have to relate to the criminal environment. Relax to go out and waving their large patches, escaped being labeled a criminal. Here it was just to order, pay by credit card and get it delivered.

– Were not you afraid of what kind of fabric you got in you?

– Yes, but I had read an enormous amount. What and how everything worked. In addition, I decided to order from the sites where I had good experiences from ordering legal smoking accessories.
