Malala to world leaders: – Do as children, dream big dreams – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): Malala Yousafzai came with a strong appeal to world leaders to take children’s rights seriously when she spoke to the international education conference in Oslo today.

– Dear leaders, you must think of the world as one country, that all men land where everyone has equal rights, regardless of whether you are white or black, woman or man, rich or poor.

A Children should not be impeded schooling or healthcare because it is poor or come from a poor country and have no choice. The world needs change, said Malala.

Speaking for the world’s children

She said she is proud to be back in Oslo where she received the Nobel Peace Prize last fall. She reiterated that she shares the award with all children who are deprived of education because of war, crises, terrorism, child labor and discrimination, and at the mercy of decisions that world leaders take.

– I have not seen my home for two and a half years . What is my crime? To speak out about injustice. Children’s right to education has been ignored for too long. If the world decides to take off one week of war, so we can put every child in school, said Malala.

The world’s youngest Peace Prize winner ever at age 18. July 12, and enters adulthood .

Dream big, set big goals

She’d still take nothing from childhood: the ability to dream big.

– You must also be children for a moment, dream bigger so that we reach bigger goals. If dreams are small, the objectives we set ourselves small. We must reach anymore. If nine years of schooling are not enough in the rich world, it is not enough for the rest of the world either, said Malala, now introduces the requirement for 12 years gratisk school for all children of the world.

– There are what I work for. It is not impossible, it must be done only choice, said Malala, and came with a strong appeal to focus on books and education instead of bullets and military budgets.

Money for school

On the initiative of Prime Minister Erna Solberg and UN special education for education, Gordon Brown, will now set up a special comedy tion that should come with proposals on how increased investment in education can be financed. The Commission shall submit proposals to the United Nations in 2016. Financing education goals are general topic at a UN conference in Adidas Ababa later in July.

Lack of funding is a major reason why many countries will not achieve the MDGs on Education for All. It will require about 22 billion dollars more per year to ensure basic education of good quality by 2030, according to United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO.

– 59 million children do not attend school. A quarter of a billion children in the fourth grade level command not basic literacy skills. It is therefore not enough to do more of the same. It must new and innovative solutions to ensure that children in all countries to get quality education. We need more funding and better quality in education. We must adopt new technology and collaborating with the private sector, says Solberg.
