Died of synthetic marijuana – Aftenposten

The autopsy report states that 22-year-old from Namsos died after using synthetic marijuana. This is the first known case in Norway, writes Trønder-Avisa.

According to the report the young boy died of cardiac arrest after using synthetic marijuana category MDMB. The boy was most likely påspandert drugged at a party in Brasov. Heart stopped beating when he returned to his lodgings in Steinkjer after the party.



First time in Norway

Chief Andreas Westin at St. Olav’s Hospital confirms that one never before seen death by use of synthetic marijuana in Norway.

– There is no previous deaths that can be clearly linked to the consumption of synthetic cannabis, but it is important to emphasize that many deceased are not autopsied, and that one does not always manage to find these substances at autopsies because one does not always know what to look for, says Westin Trønder-Avisa.

“Open your eyes”

In Norway, known the prevalence of synthetic marijuana since 2009. Investigations Director Leif Gundersen in polititet North Trond warns strongly against the drug.

– This is a tragic case. Now we need people to open their eyes, for there to sit in his room and compromising with items that you find on the internet is dangerous, he says to Trønder-Avisa.


Most of the seizures police have investigated Nord-Trøndelag, has been reported to the police by Customs, who have discovered narcotics in mail shipments.

– Many go into psychosis and are going crazy fabric. People must be aware of how dangerous this is, says Gundersen.



No exact figures

MDMB drug was 22-year-old died off and it goes by the sack term synthetic cannabinoids.

In a report the National Institute for Drug Abuse (Sirus) made of synthetic cannabis in 2013, it appears that many of the users are experiencing frightening and unpleasant effects of excessive drinking by the use of such synthetic drugs. The Institute has identified several variants in Norway, but there are currently no exact figures on the prevalence in this country.



Frightened away from drug

Namsos police since the death in March worked with trying to map networks of users and sellers of synthetic marijuana and other drugs in the city. The investigation has revealed several young people who have used the drug. Several people have been charged for the purchase and sale of drugs in recent months.

– The information we get from the people who use it, however, is that people have been frightened and have gone back to using regular hash again says Stein Erik Granli, sheriff in Brasov and Fosnes.
