Underage asylum seekers flock to Norway – Aftenposten

From January to April, the 285 asylum seekers under 18 without parents or others with parental responsibility in Norway, according to figures from the Directorate of Immigration (UDI).

About half of those who arrived in the first four months came from Afghanistan. In May alone, there have been almost as many as in the first four months, totaling 267 people. A large majority of these, 138 people, said that they are from Eritrea.

– We have seen a sharp rise in May. Earlier this year, the two, three minors per day. Now comes about ten minors daily, mostly from Eritrea, said director Frode Forfang of Immigration (UDI) to NRK.

Almost all unaccompanied minor asylum seekers are indeed on their asylum applications, according to UDI statistics. Of 218 cases processed this year, it is only given seven refusal.
