Clipfish achieved record exports in May – HegnarOnline

A total seafood exports 5.2 billion in May, 203 million more than in the same period last year, according to the Norwegian Seafood Council.

– Norway has never exported so much seafood in May as we did this year. It is cod that ensures this record, in particular clipfish and salted fish. Part of the explanation for this lies with the Portuguese, who will have Norwegian cod in larger amounts, says communications director Geir Bakkevoll in seafood Council.

Although salted fish are catching up, there are still salmon accounts for the bulk of Norwegian seafood exports. In May, salmon exports 3.5 billion – about as much as last year.

In comparison, exports of clipfish 337 million, a figure that is 80 percent higher than the same period last year . (© NTB)
